The International day of remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust in the ICF «Jewish Hesed «Bnei Azriel»
Traditionally, on 27 January the world marks the International day of remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust – the people who suffered the cruelty and inhumanity of others. On this day, eyewitnesses of those terrible events of the last century share their memories with the younger generations, in order to save humanity from a repetition of the horrors they had to live through.
Such meetings are always difficult for the Jews, who suffered during the Second World War, and representatives of any other nationality, because it is a burden of bitter memories hanging over every man in the world. And that is why such events are vital, they remind us how far can a man go in his inhumanity and are designed to prevent any manifestation of intolerance between people. This year to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust gathered not only the wards of ICF "Jewish Hesed "Bnei Azriel" and members of the Ukrainian public organization of Jews – former prisoners of concentration camps and ghettos, led by Boris Zabarko, but also representatives of the friendly organization "Christians for Israel", headed by Director Natalia Kryzhanovskaya.
In his speech Boris Zabarko has repeatedly addressed the theme of memory and explained to the audience how important it is to preserve and pass on memories to young people. Eventually, as a historian he understands the historical significance of past events for a peaceful and humane future of humanity. He encouraged those present to extend the maximum information about the Holocaust, so that in our difficult time, people were able to resist the oppression of the weak and the search for åšó guilty among the civilian population.
The meeting ended with a hearty performance of talented volunteers and the wonderful staff of the Kiev Hesed, who once again showed how talented and multi-faceted Jewish people are, despite all the persecution and victimization. From the stage sounded the poems of Naum Korzhavin performed by the participants of theatre "Dreidel" Alla Grimbel, the songs "Ali" and "Oh, the ancient people!", sang by the duet "Nigun" (Helen Winn, Irene Sidorovskaya), the author requiem of Emil Krupnik and instrumental composition from Felix Schuster.
Today we light candles in memory of those who had the fate to become an eyewitness to the events of the Holocaust and sincerely hope that the horrors that the wards of ICF "Jewish Hesed "Bnei Azriel" and Jews worldwide had to go through will never happen on our planet!
